Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Denison University for the 26th annual conference of the Consortium of Liberal Arts Colleges.

Established in 1831, Denison
University has earned a reputation for academic rigor and for engaging motivated students from around the world, providing them an integrated learning environment to develop as critical thinkers, perceptive moral agents and active citizens in a global community.

The theme of this year’s conference, “The Heart of IT All,” is a play on words of Ohio’s nickname
and emphasizes what IT has become to our institutions. For years now we have heard “these are challenging times for IT.” And so it still goes. This is an exciting time for IT as well! It is a time for many of our colleges to re-envision and reinforce the value of a liberal arts education while we embrace the expanding role technology may have in that context. The close community of CLAC continues to provide us valuable resources in learning opportunities created by the sharing of knowledge and by collaborative projects with each other.

I look forward to the next few days – connecting with friends, making new acquaintances, and the exchange of ideas. This conference is always a memorable event and we’ve aimed high to keep that tradition with this year’s program. So glad you could make it. Enjoy!

Welcome to Denison University and CLAC 2014!
